Cupertino, California — Sequent Microsystems is excited to announce the launch of three new Serial Ports HATs for Raspberry Pi, offering a comprehensive solution to enhance the connectivity capabilities of the popular single-board computer.
The flagship product, the Eight Serial Ports HAT, is powered by two ARM Cortex processors and supports a wide range of communication protocols, including three RS232 ports, RS422, RS485, CAN, 1-Wire, and M-BUS. Users can stack two of these HATs on a single Raspberry Pi, providing up to sixteen serial communication ports.
A built-in hardware watchdog ensures reliable operation by automatically resetting the Raspberry Pi in case of a software lock-up. Additionally, status LEDs indicate the activity of each serial port, and pluggable connectors simplify field installation.
For simpler projects, Sequent Microsystems offers two additional HATs: the Four Serial Ports HAT, which provides two RS232 and two RS485 ports, and the Two Serial Ports HAT, featuring one RS232 and one RS485 port.
“The Raspberry Pi GPIO supports up to four serial ports, but only at the software level,” says Mihai Beffa, founder of Sequent Microsystems. “To interact with the real world, you need transceivers and drivers. With these three HATs, we cover all the serial communications your Raspberry Pi projects will ever require.”
Priced reasonably between $25 and $95, the Serial Ports HATs are available at a 20% discount through our current Kickstarter Campaign.
Sequent Microsystems specializes in designing Raspberry Pi HATs with analog and digital inputs and outputs, relays, solid-state drivers, communication ports, and supports platforms such as OpenPLC, Node-RED, CODESYS, Python, Arduino, and Command Line drivers. OEM inquiries are welcome.
